So the biggest thing I did in 2021 was start This Week, In Recruiting
. It was one of those gut feel decisions which made no sense at the time - who else writes two different newsletters, on consecutive days 🤣?
We are 40 issues in already (Issue No41, tomorrow), clocking in at 18,333 subscribers, with circa 150+ new subs per week. It’s not the biggest newsletter on LinkedIn - nor likely the best - but I think it fulfils a role and I’m glad I did it.
Three reasons why:
Secondly, I wanted to use the space to publicly answer most common FAQ’s I get from the community. Most of these are actually about my work, so hence ‘Open Kitchen’ is the name of the essay segment as a reminder to me to always be open as possible about how the sausages are made in Recruiting Brainfood. I hope it helps illuminate any dark corners that may exist in RBF, and it might be useful for anyone following a similar path or using similar techniques for different ends.
Finally, I needed to do a better job amplifying the news, initiatives, stories, opportunities and offers from other members of the community. I can’t do this in RBF, as priority is always to respect the audience’s time and therefore only deliver the best of the most relevant. However, community news is important - it just needs to be in a different place. Hence, it happens next day, with This Week, In Recruiting…
Anyways, I hope you’re enjoying it, because I’m going to keep writing it. You’re welcome to subscribe here
if you haven’t already.
